OWL Book:
OWL
is an acronym for Organized
While Learning. OWL
books are
important! They help students
establish
good organizational
skills
- - - skills that can carry on
throughout
their time
in school.
It
will be your child’s responsibility to put the notebook in his/her desk each
morning and give it to you each evening.
Please have your child place it in his/her book bag each night as soon
as the homework is finished. It is
stressed to the students that the OWL book belongs to them and therefore it is
their responsibility to take care of it every morning and every night with
minimal reminders.
Money
and Notes: This sleeve will house notes “for the teacher”
and notes “for the parents.” It is also
an ideal place to put money for lunch, milk, book orders, pictures, field
trips, etc.
Snack: Please send in a dry
snack for your child each day such as a granola bar, apple, chips, goldfish,
etc. Please DO NOT send in nuts due to
allergies. Water bottles with secure,
spill proof lids are also permitted. No
other drinks/juices are permitted.
Homework:
Your child should read at least 20 minutes
every night. If no book is assigned it will be a free choice night. Children
should also practice sight words and spelling words daily. Math homework will
generally be given Monday through Thursday. Occasionally, there will be a
writing or unit assignment as well.
Homework sheets should be placed in the pocket
folder. All books and homework should be returned
the very next school day unless otherwise noted. Check your child’s agenda every night for specific assignments. Homework
will also be on the Planbook .com page for reference.
