Bedford County uses standard based
grading for grades Kindergarten-2nd
grade. The purpose
of graded work is to provide you with information regarding the progress your
child is making. The following guidelines will be used to assess student
performance on second grade academic standards.
4=Above
Proficient (The
student works above second grade level. It is rare to see this number on graded
work or on the report card.)
3=Proficient
(The student works on grade level. This is the grade that reflects where
your child should be.)
2=Below
Proficient (The
student works below grade level.
This indicates that your child needs more practice to show mastery.)
1=Insufficient (The
student does not show proficiency.
This indicates that your child needs lots
of
practice in the standard.)
* Please disregard any grades on
PowerSchool that reflect a letter grade or percentage. That grading is used starting in 3rd grade and is not an accurate
reflection of your child’s progress.
Please go over your child’s assignments with
them to help reinforce those skills that need reinforcing! If you
have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
