School is closed for the remainder of the school year. 
I will continue to update you on skills that you can work on with your child at home.
Language arts:
*sight words:  Dolch pre-k and K list
reading:  practice reading daily by, reading together or independently.
writing:  letter formation, writing sentences using uppercase letter at the beginning and a period a the end.
Math: 
equal parts,  halves, fourths (fractions)
addition and subtraction using manipulativies
Science:
properities of water
weather
plants and seeds and what plants need to grown
Social Studies:
community helpers
globe and map skills

**​These are suggested activities you can do over our time off. Nothing is required or graded. Language Arts: Letters, Bb, Rr, Mm, Pp:  letter sound, Matching words with pictures  
 
Math:  Reveiw coins:  identification, who is on each coin and value of each.  How many pennies does it require to match the value of each.  Use manipulatives to find different ways to make a given number: ex:for 6: 4 and 2, 1 and 5, 3 and 3, etc.  Using number up to 10 
 
Social Studies: Geography:  identify the globe as a round model of the earth Identify the shape of the United States Of America Identify the shape of the state of Virginia Directions, N, S, E ,W.  Make a map:  your room, your house, your yard etc

Scholastic News Online​: ​www.scholastic.com/lfo​. Click login, then “I am a student.” Then enter our class password: ​owlsnest10 We use this weekly at school. There are fun games and videos that go along with each magazine. If you have a printer, there are fun pages to print & use as well.  This week I had scheduled to read ​Have You Seen Green​ for St. Patrick’s Day and next week would have been ​A Frog Grows Up​. Otherwise we are up to date.

 Brainpop Jr.​ ​ https://jr.brainpop.com/​ There are free videos you can use without a subscription. We use this periodically in class with our school subscription. I’m working on getting a code to connect families for free due to school closings. 
 Super Kids Online ​Login to your account. Students have their own password picture they use in class each week. I just resent the sign up email through their site if it showed you were not connected yet. Check your spam folder if you don’t see it.

 Writing Ideas ​Students can practice writing letters & numbers *spelling 3-4 letter words, CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) * write a short sentence, draw a picture and label it or write a sentence about it. * Use fun things to write with like shaving cream, sand, chalk, dry erase markers, or make letters out of playdough. *send me pictures of what you work on in the Dojo app
